Impressions of the interior design
You have seen pictures of the Bilila Lodge in the previous entries. Today I gathered some more impressions of the interior design for you.
Jacket Interiors
I met the Jacket Interiors team, an interior design firm based in Johannesburg. Lane Deale is part of the team and she told me that they had worked on the interior design of the Lodge for the last three years. They did all the interior design for the public areas and rooms.
“It has been an amazing experience for us to come to this unique property and work in the middle of the Serengeti”, said Lane. “In terms of what we have done from the interior design perspective, we used a lot of materials that are very high end. We tried to keep everything with a bit of a rustic edge but sophisticated at the same time. We tried to find a nice balance between luxurious and comfortable”. Sitting in one of the comfy armchairs in the lobby lounge I agreed that they did a very good job on this.
As a matter of fact, one thing that makes the Lodge special is the feeling that you get when walking through the property. Every detail is set up nicely and creates a special atmosphere. In all public areas as well as in the rooms, you find raw materials arranged in a tidy and elegant way. I always had the impression that the surroundings – the wild nature of the Serengeti Park – are present even in the rooms. At the same time I felt very comfortable about the fact that they managed to maintain a very high-class, luxury touch to it.
